  17.   You're looking in the wrong place.  Final Writer (and most other Amiga
  18.   applications) use the standard AmigaOS keymapping facilities, by which
  19.   the ALT key plus most keys provides most of special characters and/or
  20.   "dead keys" for adding diacrytical marks to various vowels.

  22.   Check the AmigaOS documentation for the multi-key sequences that YOUR
  23.   keymap (probably USA1, but not necessarily) uses to represent whichever
  24.   codes you replaced in your custom font.

  26.   ProWrite provided an "Insert Literal" feature that showed the entire
  27.   character set so you could select the one you want to insert.  Final
  28.   Writer might have a similar feature, though I don't remember running into
  29.   it.  PageStream allows its users to identify special characters by the
  30.   numbers (within the current font) or more symbolically from PS' much
  31.   larger set of typographic characters.  There are also a few keymap
  32.   utilities that do the equivalent of ProWrite's "Insert Literal", though I
  33.   confess to having generated a special character "cheat sheet" that I keep
  34.   in my .info magazine transparent mouse pad.
